Three distinct organizations, sharing a desire to help Latino families –here and abroad--, have created Rumba Roast. The organic beans are roasted in Nashville by the Bongo Java Roasting Company. Bongo Java purchases the beans at Fair Trade prices, which means coffee bean farm-ers in Latin America are paid a sustainable price for their product that allows them to better support their businesses and families. Fair Trade also means farmers work under fair labor and environmentally sound conditions.

Rumba Roast comes to market thanks to the social entrepreneurial spirit of Belmont University students. These students facilitated the buying of the coffee from Bongo Java, chose the blend of the Latin American coffee, designed the label, and implemented the business and marketing campaign to bring Bongo Java to you.

Rumba Roast sales will filter into the Latino community here in Middle Tennessee, supporting programs provided by Conexión Américas. Conexión Américas is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to pro-moting the social, economic and civic integration of Latino families into our Middle Tennessee community. Each year, Conexión Américas assists over 2,500 Latino families with comprehensive services, one day with assistance on filing a tax return, another day with a referral to an English class. Other families come to Conexión Américas seeking support to realize a dream —buying a house or starting a family business.

Rumba Roast is bringing together Nashville and Latino families —near and far— one cup at a time.
